What Al Carraway told me about God….

Well okay I didn’t actually have a conversation with Al Carraway, but reading her book feels like she is talking directly to me about about God.  Do you ever feel that way when you are reading a book? Yesterday, I was going through a box of my stuff in my closet and came across her book titled “More than the Tatooed Mormon,” that my husband gave me for Christmas last year, and the thought came to me to read it. When a thought used to come into my head, I would have been too lazy, or talk myself out of following through with it. This time was different, I actually did what my head was telling me and boy am I so grateful.  If you don’t know who Al Carraway is, you better get familiar with her because she is AMAZING! She has a way of making the gospel seem so simple to […]

True Meaning of Christmas Day 6: Shepherds

Did you notice that I didn’t post yesterday? Well, I got my counting all off and realized my days were wrong.  I really wanted to talk about the Shepherds on Christmas Eve, because on the Eve of Christ’s birth an angel appeared to the shepherds. That is why I decided to not post yesterday.  I hope you can forgive me. Since I know you guys have been on the edge of your seats since yesterday, let us begin! A group of shepherds we just minding their business watching over their flocks of sheep.  When an angel of the Lord appeared to them.  He said to them the most popular saying which was, “Fear not, for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people. For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, which is Christ the Lord. And […]

True Meaning of Christmas Day 3: Zacharias & Elisabeth

Hello and welcome to Day 3! I am so grateful that you have been joining me.  It has been so fun for me to learn and have a place for me to share what I have learned.  I hope that you have learned a little bit with me.  Today I wanted to share some things I learned about Elisabeth (Mary’s Cousin), her husband Zacharias, and their son John (the Baptist as he is known in later years). Zacharias Zacharias was a priest, and had a wife named Elisabeth. It says in the scriptures that they were both “righteous before God, walking in all the commandments and ordinances of the Lord.” Luke 1: 6. They, like many people today, had no children because Elisabeth was considered barren, and they were also old in age. Zacharias had an amazing experience. An angel appears to him and  tells him that the Lord has […]

True Meaning of Christmas Day 1: Prophecies of Jesus Christ’s birth?

Did you know that there were prophecies (divine message from God) of Jesus Christ’s birth before he was born?  It’s true!!  Heavenly Father wanted people to know of this event before hand so they could start declaring it to others. Many prophets in the Bible and Book of Mormon foretold Jesus Christ’s birth and ministry hundreds of years before the actual event. We will look at a few of those. Prophecy 1: The first prophecy happened 700 years before His birth. Isaiah, a prophet in the Old Testament, prophesied that a pure woman would give birth to Heavenly Father’s Son. In Isaiah 7:14, it reads; ““Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel.” Also, in Isaiah 9:6; “For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called […]

I am not the Mormon I thought I was….

My realization. I grew up in Utah, as a Mormon, and lived there all of my life, except for my recent move to Florida. That was the hardest decision of my life. To leave Utah and the life that I knew there. To take my daughter away from Grandma, Grandpa, Uncles, Aunts, and Cousins.  But I felt strongly that we needed to be here in Florida.  The real reason we moved to Florida was for my Mother-in-Law’s health. Now I know, I needed to be here to learn and grow. Now let’s get back to the realization. Growing up in Utah, everyone around us was LDS, either active member, or inactive members that had fallen away.  EVERYONE knew about the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.  I knew the basic principles of the church and believed that it was true, but I didn’t truly know the church was true.  […]

Gratitude

Today was one of those days at church where you just don’t want to leave because the spirit was so strong there and you want to hold on to that feeling forever.  Every testimony, lesson, and song, was what I needed to hear and spoke right to my heart.  Our ward is so amazing and they have some of the strongest testimonies I have heard or felt. I have really grown to love these woman more than they will know. Today in Relief Society the teacher gave the lesson from a talk given by Thomas S. Monson titled, “The Divine Gift of Gratitude.”  He mentions in his talk: “Regardless of our circumstances, each of us has much for which to be grateful if we will but pause and contemplate our blessings. This is a wonderful time to be on earth. While there is much that is wrong in the world […]

Overcoming Discouragement

Ever since I hit post on my last post Hello World! I have been feeling extremely discouraged and second guessing starting this blog.  I am not sure why, but I started feeling like I wasn’t going to be good enough to write this blog, or that I didn’t know how to write to inspire people, or that anything I were to write was not going to be good enough or inspire anyone. This my friends, was Satan trying to get into my head. Today I left Katee with my mom so that I could get some homework done.  After I was done working on some of my homework I went and grabbed lunch and sat in my car at the park eating my lunch and listening to an audio program called Mormon Channel Daily, that has inspiring daily messages. Anyways, today I listened to one that gave some recap messages […]
